Just wondered if you'd ever considered setting up an online server. www.dominategame.com seems to be having some real problems and the person who set it up has never been that interested in it. (I think he just did it as a project for a computing course and got bored of it even before it became so big.)
People there are crying out for a solid online alternative and if they recognised it was properly maintained I'm sure they'd appreciate it. The total number of members it has had must be huge. They continually have a few hundred people online, at busy times many hundred, and its been going for years. (The forums seem to have always attracted the worst people. I have found that most people that I've played with have been fine.)
I just had to ask if you'd ever thought about it.
I've not played invade earth in a long time and not online. How often are there user servers and how do I find out about them?
If you wanted to just attract more people now might be a good time to post on the dominate forums. Its not as if anyones moderating them at the moment.
finalconquest.com seems to be getting popular with 80 users all evening. There have been a few posts about it in the last couple of days. I don't know how popular its been recently but I don't think there used to be enough users to play a game.
You can use the built-in server list to view open games, or go to this page (RSS feed) to see the same list of games.
I should try to promote the game again; I spent some time on it once, but it's been a while.
Re: Online Server
I have considered running a permanent online server for Invade Earth, especially now that I have a faster Internet connection. There are frequently user servers available though, so it hasn't been a major priority for me.
