Map editing - customize default maps?

Is there a way to make a new map with the map editor for 2210 based on the default map? (I looked around the map editor and couldn't find the default maps.)

I'm interested in playing Pantheon rules on the 2210 map because 2210 has so many more territories and continents, but that would require Pantheon's Underworld be merged onto the 2210 map. (The game otherwise just stops at the Underworld phase).

The simplest thing to is to start a new game in Invade Earth and save it. Then load it with the map editor.

You could also decompress the .jar file to get at the original xml file and the background graphics.

Re: Map editing - customize default maps?

Ah, thanks for the response.

1. In the map editor, how can I make a custom image appear under the menu Map > "Use Background Image..." ?

(I can view my image using View > "Set Background Image...", but the viewed image doesn't appear when I load the map in InvadeEarth.)

2. What directory is the .jar file in?

Thanks

Re: Map editing - customize default maps?

1. You have to load the image in Invade Earth the same way. I know it's a little annoying, but the maps are stored and loaded over the internet as XML (text) so they don't include image data. You can set one of the included images as the background, but I'm assuming you meant a custom image.
You will be able to use your map in online play, though there may be a slight delay as it loads over the internet. (Default maps don't have to be sent, since everyone already has them.)

2. The file you need is: http://invadeearth.sourceforge.net/InvadeEarthResources.jar

The map images are stored in:
org/invade/resources/maps/images
